Singing for Health: Both Parts to "Lucky," by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat
After posting a video of "Lucky," by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat several weeks ago, I was tickled to find out that my aunt fell in love with this song.
She has a copy of the lyrics printed out and taped to the side of her monitor. Now, I knew that she listened to Josh Groban, but mostly, all I've heard her hum over the years are various hymns and worship songs from church.
So I found it quite sweet and beautiful to see that she was smitten with "Lucky."
With the hope of enhancing her experience of this song, I found a couple of videos at YouTube.com that provide clean takes of both parts that make up the harmony. I've asked my aunt and her daughter to practice Colbie's part, while I practice Jason's part along with the guitar, and we'll try to bring it all together during our Christmas break. Should be a lot of fun. :)
Since a number of our readers have expressed appreciation for Jason Mraz's work and this song in particular, I thought I would share the videos mentioned above, just in case some of you would like to learn the two parts to this song.
Don't have a singing partner? No worries at all - once you learn your part, you can just play the other part on your computer and sing along. Ahh...technology has never been so good, eh?
Here's the original song with cute cartoon images (my aunt found this one):
Now here's the version that gives you a clear listen to Colbie's part:
And here's the version with just Jason's side:
A big thank you to Jennifer Chung and SinginDork888 at youtube.com for making these videos for all of us to enjoy.
Jennifer is a Korean-American singer from California...she's one of YouTube's most popular musicians, and quite possibly our 3-year old's favorite voice to belt out songs with. You can listen to Jennifer's soulful renditions of various songs here:
SinginDork888 is a Chinese-American musician who plays both guitar and piano - you can listen to more of his buttery voice here:
I have this feeling of peace whenever I listen to people like Jennifer and SinginDork888 - I think it comes from knowing that they have found something that they were definitely meant to do.
Well, I hope that you enjoy "Lucky" as much as my family does.

Lucky
The first time I heard this song ("Lucky") on Dr. Ben Kim's site, I knew it would be my theme song for the rest of my life. My husband of 43 years died from pancreatic cancer in June of this year. For me the words of the song speak of the time when I will be able to join my husband 'across the ocean' of eternity, 'going home' to be with him and our Lord. Thank you, Dr. Kim, for posting this song. I probably would have never heard it, if you hadn't.
