Hospitals Serving Up French Fries Laden With Trans Fats

The Center For Science In the Public Interest (CSPI) released a special report on February 6, 2006 which indicates that many of the top hospitals in the United States are serving up French fries that are laden with trans fats.

The following chart indicates the number of grams of trans fat that were found in 6 ounces of French fries from McDonald's, 18 medical centers and hospitals, and the headquarters of the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Food and Drug Administration. 1 and 2/3 cups of coconut millk
2 teaspoons of coconut oil
1 and 1/4 cups of vegetable broth
6-8 ounces of Yukon or new potatoes, quartered

I have to admit, this past weekend, my wife and I were

Antidepressants Can Cause Serious Breathing Problems in Newborns

A study in the February 9, 2006 edition of the New England Journal of Medicine reports that there is a definite association between mothers taking certain antidepressants (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) late in pregnancy and the risk of their babies being born with a serious condition called persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN). Healthy Gluten-Free Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

3 cups raw sunflower seeds (soaked in water overnight, drained)
10 pitted dates (soaked for 1 hour, drained)
1 cup chopped dried apricots (soaked for 1 hour, drained)
1 cup raisins (soaked for 1 hour, drained)
1 cup almond butter
1 tablespoon vanilla (optional)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Directions:

Blend all ingredients in food processor to a nutty consistency. Roll into small balls and flatten out to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cover and refrigerate for one hour before serving. Read more
