Dr. Shefali Tsabary on Conscious Parenting

Unbeknownst to her, Dr. Shefali is one of my most treasured mentors. Whenever I experience conflict with our boys, I find myself re-reading passages in The Conscious Parent and The Awakened Family to try to figure out where I went wrong as a person and parent.

I can only echo what she says in the preview of this video - whenever I am off in some way and not feeling good about my life, within ten minutes of the day, I see something wrong in my child or something else in my life. When I am feeling less than whole, I am more apt to perceive that people and things around me are lacking in some way.

We all see and process the world through our own unique and tiny keyholes, right? It feels like we have the power to choose the lens that sits in our keyhole. The more whole and balanced we feel, the more apt we are to choose a lens that allows us to see the goodness and abundance around us.

Many thanks to Lewis Howes of the School of Greatness for this priceless interview with Dr. Shefali.

If you are a parent or grandparent seeking guidance on how to consciously raise children, I think you will be mighty thankful to discover Dr. Shefali's books:

The Conscious Parent

The Awakened Family

My child isn’t my easel to paint on. Nor my diamond to polish.

My child isn’t my trophy to share with the world. Nor my badge of honor.

My child isn’t an idea, an expectation, or a fantasy. Nor my reflection
or legacy.

My child isn’t my puppet or a project. Nor my striving or desire.

My child is here to fumble, stumble, try, and cry. Learn and mess up.

Fail and try again. Listen to the beat of a drum faint to our adult ears.

And dance to a song that revels in freedom. My task is to step aside.

Stay in infinite possibility. Heal my own wounds. Fill my own bucket.

And let my child fly.
