Shoulder Mobility Exercises While Supine

Here are three simple mobility exercises that one can use while lying on any stable surface to improve shoulder and scapular function.

If you can't contact the surface that you are lying on with your arms as shown, just go as far as as you feel comfortable going - with regular work, your arms will get closer to the ground as your shoulders become more mobile. You can do these exercises as often as you wish. As with most mobility exercises, it's best to be thoroughly warmed up before taking your joints to the end ranges of their natural planes of motion.

Shoulder mobility is directly tied to scapular and thoracic spine mobility, so please look through our YouTube video library and try mobility exercises shown for the spine and scapulae as you work at improving shoulder function.
